Consent Terms for Access to Meter Data

By providing consent, you agree to the following:

1. Scope of Consent

  • You authorise us to access and process your energy data, which may include:
    • Meter Point Administration Number (MPAN) details
    • Meter technical details and supplier information
    • Energy consumption data (including half-hourly data, where applicable)
    • Tariff and contractual information where available
  • This consent applies to both historic and future energy data for the period you maintain consent.

2. Purpose of Processing

  • Your data will only be used for the following purposes:
    • Providing energy services, including solar assessments and energy contracting
    • Contacting you in relation to your energy services
    • Compliance with relevant energy industry obligations
  • Your data will not be sold or used for unrelated marketing without your separate explicit consent.

3. Data Retention and Security

  • Data will be retained only for as long as necessary to provide the service or comply with legal and regulatory obligations.
  • Once no longer required, your data will be securely deleted or anonymised.
  • We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including encryption and access restrictions.

4. Third‑Party Sharing

  • Your data may be shared with trusted third parties (such as suppliers, auditors, or industry data providers) only where necessary to provide the service.
  • All third parties must comply with UK data protection law.
  • We are not responsible for how third parties with whom you independently share your data handle it.

5. Customer Responsibilities

  • You confirm you are authorised to provide consent on behalf of your organisation, the bill payer, or the property owner.
  • You agree to only add and/or confirm addresses and/or meters for which you are the energy consumer or property owner.
  • You must be the energy consumer or an authorised representative where a commercial entity.
  • You must not provide false, misleading, or unauthorised information and must promptly notify us of any changes.

6. Your Rights and Control

  • It is your choice alone whether to share your energy data. You are never obliged to share it.
  • You may withdraw your consent at any time through our Manage Consent portal. Withdrawal will prevent further access but will not affect processing already carried out.
  • Changing your permissions is your responsibility and must be kept up to date.
  • If you choose to share your data with a third party (with or without our assistance), it is your responsibility to review and accept any terms and conditions or privacy policies that apply to that third party.

7. Letters of Authority

  • Where you provide us with consent, this authorises us to retrieve energy data that includes half-hourly consumption data.
  • We may share details of your permissions, including consents, with relevant third parties in order to prove compliance with these terms, our privacy policy, and industry contractual requirements.

8. Liability

  • We are not responsible for the accuracy of data supplied by third parties (e.g. energy suppliers or distribution network operators).
  • To the maximum extent permitted by law, we exclude liability for indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of the service.

9. Governing Law

  • These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

10. Updates

  • We may update these terms from time to time to reflect changes in law, regulation, or the service we provide. You will be notified of any material changes.
